Pepi Bath

Pepi Bath is one of the most engaging apps for supporting toileting, washing hands, bathing and washing clothes. In each story, the child interacts with the objects in the scene. They touch the taps to turn on, lift the shampoo up onto the boy's hair and even flush the toilet.

 

The toilet section is my favourite. There are both boy and girl cartoon animations in this app. For toileting, both the boy and girl sit on the toilet. One of the funniest and most useful animation is when you press the stomach of the character, she bears down and you can hear her do a poo and a wee. This very direct way of teaching is really important for students with additional needs. She then prompts the child to get the toilet paper. She needs three good wipes. The toilet paper then needs to go in the bin (in Australia we usually put it in the toilet, but that's okay). Then she prompts the child to pull the chain to flush the toilet. She is sitting on the toilet when it flushes. The bathroom now may be a little smelly, so the student can press on the air freshener to make it smell just nice.

 

I have used Pepi on many occasions as a visual preparation tool for students to encourage them to toilet. It is so much fun to watch, my students want to play this game over and over.

 

Pepi Bath also includes washing hands. She puts on the soap, the washes her hands under water. She brushes her teeth- without toothpaste. She can blow her nose too. It is great to see the difference when you come Pepi's wild hair. When the child chooses the scissors, Pepi shakes her head for 'No". I am not sure why the scissors are there.

 

There are also fun animations for bath time and putting on the washing.

 

These wonderful stories will engage any child (and adult) to play and practice personal care activities.
