Review Comments
Sound Touch 2 is the long awaited sequel to Sound Touch. These apps is just so engaging for young children and versatile too. The pictures in this app are wonderful.

This app shows 240 images organised into categories. The picture are of animals, vehicles, musical instruments, birds and household things.

You can tap on the bees and then continue to tap five times to see five different bee pictures with accompanying sounds. The app opens up straight into the activity. This is a favourite amongst my young students.

The pictures are:

  • Human sounds (snoring, laughing)
  • Nature and weather (sea, fire)
  • Professions (Doctor, fireman)
  • Animals (rhino, fox)

The words can be spoken in a wide range of languages.

Authenticity looks at the manner in which skills are learnt. Authentic apps use real life or genuine activities. Students learn in context rather than in a contrived or rote fashion (such as flashcards).

Feedback needs to be specific and result in improved performance. Feedback should be supportive and encouraging rather than negative. Data should be available to support decision making.
