Support Worker Assistance with Social and Community Participation

For adults with a disability

NDIS Funded Support Workers

Assistance with Social and Community Participation is a funded support category that you may find in your NDIS plan, under Core Supports. This funding covers the support NDIS participants need to meet goals relating to participating in community, social or recreational activities.
Support can be provided at home or out in the community. This category covers assistance with activities that build your skills and independence. Some examples might be:
  • Going to the shops
  • Recreational activities such as photography
  • Classes such as art classes
  • Sporting activities such as the gym or swimming lessons
  • Vacation activities

Community and Recreational Activities

We are interested in your activities and hobbies. We can drive you to the shops or help you with online shopping if you prefer.

Our support workers are passionate about supporting people to achieve their individual goals, whatever that may be. We also love to have fun, whether that is watching a movie or going to your favourite cafe. We are available in the evenings and weekends too.

Would you like to improve your IT skills or learn to edit a video? Our support workers have expertise in technology and can provide one on one coaching in:

  • Videography
  • Video editing
  • Photography and Photoshop
  • Everyday computer skills

Supporting You

B.E.ST. Autism has supported people on the spectrum in Brisbane for over 20 years. Our support workers understand autism. Our workers are sociable, chatty, and highly educated with University Degrees.

They can relate to people on the spectrum and are responsive to your strengths and abilities. We believe in person centred support which means that you decide how you would like your supports delivered.

Social Activities

Participation in your community plays a vital role in your well-being and self-confidence.

B.E.ST. Autism support workers can assist you to access community activities including social gatherings, sporting activities, and special interest groups.

You can enjoy support and develop confidence in social situations. You might want to learn to rock climb or visit the gym. The choice is yours.
